Our Wine

Kelman Vineyard estate comprises c.100 acres nestled in the quiet corner of Pokolbin near Mount View. The vineyard area covers 23 acres where we grow semillon, chardonnay, Shiraz, muscat and tempranillo grapes. From these grapes we produce traditional premium wines including blends and rose.

Our Semillon: unoaked with a light straw colour, it has the aromas and flavors of apple lemon and citrus.
Our Chardonnay: straw to light yellow in colour, it has the fruit characters of citrus, melon and peach with hints of vanillin oak.
Our Shiraz: a medium bodied wine with spice, pepper, raspberry and plum characters, a complex flavor with a soft tannic finish.
Our Moscato: made from both red and white muscat grapes, refreshing on the palate with floral overtones.
Our Tempranillo: recently grafted, we cannot wait to work wonders with this dark red wine with red currant, dark cherry and floral characters.

We also produce blends and sparkling wines and a range of sweeter style wines including a late harvest shiraz and a late harvest chardonnay.

Our Cellar Door

The Kelman Cellar Door is open seven days a week and offers tastings and sales of all its premium wines and local food produce. As a boutique vineyard, we pride ourselves on our friendly staff and personal attention. Often, resident viticulture experts are on hand to answer questions thus offering a more educational experience.

Our cellar door houses a large collection of historical artifacts and documents of wine pioneers, William Kelman and James Busby. We also offer a more detailed introduction to the collection by our resident historian.

Our Community

Kelman Vineyard offers a truly unique way of life. The gated estate is scattered with traditional country cottages and homesteads. The vines, olive and lemon groves meander between the dwellings. There is a friendly diversity of folks who call Kelman home. Most of our community are permanent residents with some weekenders escaping the city bustle. Kelman is the perfect venue to unwind. The blissful tranquility, the views of the vines and the mountains, the flora and fauna, and the easy walking tracks offer residents a rural setting and lifestyle without all the hard work. Communal facilities include a library, tennis courts, bocce, croquet, golf hole, BBQs and a beautiful lake for a quiet bit of fishing. We come together in groups to enjoy common hobbies and skills, such as bridge, golf, book club, quilting. The large wine shed doubles as a community social area for monthly BBQs, winter happy hours, special dinners, celebrations and parties. We are very proud of our wines but we are also very proud of our community spirit.
